Pocket AirRoute is designed for mobile devices running on Mobile Windows 2003. Pros: AirRoute is a computer application that can be used for flight planning. Though VFR oriented it can still be used for IFR based planning. Waypoints database covers most of the populated areas of Europe and the database supplied has more than 600,000 waypoints and detailed aerodrome information. All that detail helps pilots in planning their flights. Meteorological data and charts can be obtained from the publisher’s website as could the waypoint data too. The application could compute the wind triangle, plan and manage fuel consumption. It helps plan top of descent, calculate TAS-CAS and Mach in standard atmosphere. Indicated altitude can be converted to pressure altitude as well as density altitude and back. From your heading inbound the holding fix you could plan a holding. Necessary conversions of units are done easily. While the application needs the dotNet compact to be present in the device, the application itself has a very well organized and simple to use. A tabbed interface with relevant data entry or calculations grouped on the same page is very useful. The interface has a unique design. The input is always entered via the top display. If there’s mistake such as inputs beyond allowed range it is not accepted and help messages clarify what are the legal values. For the special functions a "line selector" is available allowing input in the relevant text box. The results are calculated immediately even the values on the tabbed pages get updated even though they may not be visible unless a specific tab is selected. Cons: No problems in the application that we could see. Overall this is an excellent program. Easily rates a 5 star level. Publisher's description:
