Phatsoft JoyMouse Description
Phatsoft JoyMouse is a lightweight Windows tool designed to let you use a simple joystick as a mouse. Obviously, since it's supposed to perform such a simple task, the interface is less important, with the main focus this time on the configuration screen that allows users to properly set up the joystick. The program places an icon in the Windows System Tray that lets you instantly enable it and access the options menu and although it's supposed to run all the time, the impact on system performance is minimal. Once you open the options menu, you're allowed to configure the cursor speed, with two different settings for normal and accelerated, as well as threshold and refresh rate. Obviously, you can set up the joystick buttons to perform several actions, with dedicated options for up to eight buttons. You can thus pick the button for left, right, middle or double click, accelerate cursor, enable and disable joystick. Since it's such a lightweight application, Phatsoft JoyMouse does a pretty simple job and works just fine on all Windows versions, without hampering system performance at all. There's no help file however, but you shouldn't need one since everything's so intuitive. While it works okay with most joysticks, it may fail to detect some newer devices, so it still needs some updates to work properly with all types of products. Overall, Phatsoft JoyMouse is a tool that does its job very well, but it's pretty clear that it still needs some improvements to work flawlessly whatever the device or the operating system.
