Path Scan Description

Path Scan is a small and portable piece of software that enables you to find out the total path length of your files. It is useful when certain operations require a limited path length, as in the case of DVD burning or file synchronizing. Since installation is a prerequisite, you can just drop Path Scan anywhere on the hard drive and run the executable file directly. As an alternative, you can save Path Scan to a USB flash drive or similar removable device, and run it on any computer. Thus, you can carry the app with you whenever you're on the go. The most important aspect is that the Windows Registry section is not updated with entries, and files are not left behind on the hard drive after removing Path Scan. The interface of the tool is represented by a standard window with an uncomplicated layout. So, you can select a directory by using the folder view and specify the minimum number of characters for file paths, in order to initialize the scanning procedure. Once results are displayed, you can save them to a plain text document (TXT format) by simply establishing the target folder and file name. Path Scan needs a very high amount of CPU and system memory to work properly, considering its limited capabilities. It has a good response time and completes a scanning task swiftly, without making Windows hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. On the downside, you cannot copy file paths to the Clipboard or save them to other file types besides TXT, such as DOC, RTF or HTML. We must also take into account the fact that the app has not been updated for a very long time. Nevertheless, Path Scan supplies users with a straightforward solution to identifying large file paths.
