PDFZilla Description
PDFZilla is a set of tools to convert PDF documents to various formats. The program has an easy-to-use interface, its welcome screen provides direct access to its multiple functions. As a converter, PDFZilla supports multiple target formats, including documents (DOC, XLS, TXT), webpages (HTML), images (JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF) and Flash files (SWF). The program has the advantage of converting files in batches. Additionally, you can set a range of pages to convert. However, when converting multiple files, you can not set a page range for separate files, which means the tool will convert the same page range for all source documents. Good news is that PDFZilla also supports various basic editing operations. Thus, it lets you merge files, extract a given page range from a document, and rotate pages. However, you should be aware that it is far from being a full-fledged PDF editor. The product has the limitations of not performing OCR when transforming scanned PDFs to text documents. Besides, it cannot convert other file types to PDF, except images. Another thing that I did not like about the program is that it gives no visual clues that a conversion process is taking place. For instance, the program does not update the progress bar and there seems to be no way to stop the process. In general, PDFZilla has the advantage of supporting a long list of target formats. It is also a cheaper alternative to other more sophisticated products. Still, it is probably not the best choice available. However, I will not discourage you from evaluating its trial version, which can convert only 50% of the original files. Pedro Castro Editor rating:
