An Open Source alternative to the old Kaillera network play library FAQ & Information Q: What is this? A: It's free open source online multiplayer solution for arcade games. It was intended to be an Open Source alternative to the old Kaillera network play library and to extend beyond kaillera while staying compatible to it. Q: What is this not? A: This is nothing more than a free gameplay library. Q: Is this closed source? I want to use/modify/steal your source code! Where are the sources? Is there a license? A: Open source, MIT License & Sourceforge. Q: Is this complete/usable/still active? A: If this "complete" is a way of saying its not being worked on any more, its not complete. But its usable. There are always new features we want to add and ideas we want to explore all thanks your comments and suggestions. So we don't know when it'll be complete. We work on this on our spare time and its active. Q: Is there a linux port for the client library? Which distro would I need? Can it be ported on other platforms? Is this wine compatible? A: The 0.15 WIP version (latest) is compileable on linux and has been tested to work perfectly. As far as dependencies are concerned, it only depends on pthread (threading), rt (clock) and juce (GUI). The rest is written with portable bsd socket functions and standard c++. Juce sources needs to be downloaded to compile those sources and is obtainable from their website. It depends on pthread, X11 & freetype. Since all distros have them, there should be no problems involving compilation, linkage and usage. It works perfectly on wine environment too if you compile it on windows.
