OCR Image to Text Conversion Tool facilitates file conversions from images and scanned documents to ASCII and text, with support for Optical Character Recognition (OCR). It is capable of processing TIF, BMP, JPG, JPEG and GIF file types to TXT, RTF, DOC and UTF. The interface is divided into two panes for previewing the source and output file content respectively. It is possible to auto-scale the first file, scale the width, as well as zoom in and out. You can either process the entire file or only a particular selection. Before doing so, you can configure options regarding the characters to submit for analysis, whether they are upper case, lower case, numeric or special. Additional settings can be made from the Options menu, where you can adjust image settings in regard to the despeckle and brightness levels, font color and color contrast, as well as maximum characters height, width and size. New documents can be saved to the computer by establishing the output format, file name and directory. Moreover, keyboard shortcuts are included among OCR Image to Text Conversion Tool's features. The program is pretty high-demanding when it comes to the RAM level. It has a good response time and quickly performs a conversion procedure, without hanging, crashing or popping up error dialogs. However, the utility does not work properly on newer OS platforms. We must also take into account that OCR Image to Text Conversion Tool has not been updated for a long time.
