Network Utilization Description

Network Utilization is a lightweight Vista gadget that displays a small graph on your screen and provides information about network usage. The utility sports a clean and intuitive layout that offers quick access to only a few configuration settings to tinker with. Network Utilization gives users the possibility to select the network monitoring interface card, and pick the update interval (in seconds) and graph history type, as well as specify how often the application should rescale the history graph. With a double-click on the gadget’s window you can toggle between the history display and graph. Other options give you the possibility to make the gadget remain on top of other utilities, move the list to any area of the screen, as well as pick the opacity level. Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to work with this tool, even less experienced users can master the gadget with just a few clicks. During our testing we have noticed that Network Utilization displays accurate results and without errors throughout the entire process. As it would be expected from such a small utility, it manages to remain light on the system resources, so it doesn’t burden the overall performance of the computer, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality. All things considered, Network Utilization offers a simple software solution when it comes to gathering information about network usage. It can be easily configured and installed by all types of users, regardless of their experience level. Reviewed by Ana Marculescu, last updated on September 9th, 2013
