Mysql Explorer Description
The suggestive name of MySQL Explorer clearly states its purpose. It is designed to provide you with a convenient method of viewing the content of MySQL databases and exploring entries in tables. We could say that simplicity is one of its strong points. All the options and settings are comprised in the one-window interface, keeping everything within reach and easy to handle. The authentication procedure requires you to specify the MySQL Server host, the login credentials (the username and the password), as well as the port that the server uses. Once the connection is initialized, the application activates all the other fields, enabling you to choose the database you want to explore and the desired table using the designated drop-down lists. The content is displayed in a structured manner, with all the fields and the entries, in a table that includes differently colored lines for optimized viewing. The GUI contains buttons dedicated to navigation throughout records (go to the first or the last entry or select the next / previous entry), which surely comes in handy when you have to deal with a large database. You can easily insert new records in a table, delete or edit existing ones. Provided you have full access to the database, changes can be saved. The 'Cancel' button plays the 'Undo' role, allowing you to abandon the lastest performed action. The functionality of MySQL Explorer is limited to viewing database contents, retrieving the number of records and modifying existing entries. It is not capable of creating new tables, writing SQL statements, importing or exporting databases or performing structure analysis. Even so, it is a useful tool for those who are using MySQL for database management. Reviewed by Mihaela Citea, last updated on December 30th, 2013
