Multi frontend Description

Multi frontend represents a graphical interface for numerous popular tools dedicating to encoding and decoding audio tracks. These include LAME, BladeEnc, FLAC, Monkey's Audio, WavPack, MP3Gain, ReplayGain, Tag, and so on.No installation requiredThere is no setup pack involved, which makes Multi frontend portable. It means that you can save the program files to a custom directory on the disk and just click the executable to run the tool. There is also the possibility to save it to a pen drive or other mass storage device, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers. More importantly, unlike most installers, the app does not alter the Windows registry or create extra files on the disk without your permission, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal. Simple and straightforward interfaceThe GUI is user-friendly, consisting of a small frame with a plain, yet clearly organized layout. Audio tracks can be added to the task list for conversion via the classical file browser or drag-and-drop method. By proceeding with the default settings, all you have to is select the codec type, output directory along with encoder options, and click a button to start the procedure. Customize encoder settings These parameters may be changed, however. For example, you can ask Multi frontend to delete the source files on task completion, add tags, close the Command Prompt window when the job is done, run the codec in idle priority mode, automatically detect the file name scheme, copy tags from the source tracks, edit the artist, album, year, genre and comment, and more. Evaluation and conclusionThe tool does not put a strain on computer performance, since it runs on low CPU and memory. It has a good response time to commands and carries out encoding jobs swiftly, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error messages. All in all, Multi frontend provides a simple means of accessing popular audio encoders and decoders via a user-friendly interface, backed by plenty of configuration options.
