MozBackup Description

MozBackup is a small utility that helps you back up in a single file all your profile information belonging to the Mozilla family of tools. The program can read the profile info from applications such as Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird, SeaMonkey, and Netscape. The backup file will contain info such as bookmarks, browser histories, e-mails, contacts, form auto-fill info, and passwords, and even plug-ins and cache files. MozBackup is designed to act as a wizard that will guide you through the process of backing-up your Mozilla-related information profiles and of restoring them. Before starting the process, however, it is very advisable that all Mozilla apps, such as Firefox and Thunderbird, are closed. On the first step of the wizard, the program will ask you to select the operation type – Back up a profile or Restore a profile. If you select the Backup option, the second step will allow you to select the profile you want to back up and the saving directory. Next, you will be able to select whether you want to password-protect your backup file or not. If you select to do so, the program asks you to type and confirm the password. Finally, you can select the components you want to include in your backup file. Among the available options are General settings, Bookmarks, History, Extensions, Cookies, Saved passwords, Certificates, and several more. All that rests now is to click on the "Next" button to get your backup file ready in just seconds. If, on the other hand, the operation you want to perform is to restore a Mozilla profile backup, you need to select the profile you want to restore and the backup file, which has the .pcv extension. If the file is protected, you will also be prompted to type the corresponding password. Then you can select the components to be restored, and start the process with a simple click. The restoring speed is normally as good as the backing-up speed. To sum up, MozBackup is a handy and lightweight utility that allows you to back up and restore the profile information from your Mozilla apps very easily.
