Mnemo Explorer is an useful tool designed for organizing files on personal and networked computers. It offers users a new way of managing files and their content. The idea behind Mnemo Explorer is to carry this ability to our computer desktop and see, if it helps us finding files more quickly than by using the standard file system browsing tools. Mnemo Explorer just provides you with a map on which you can arrange your items. It does not help you organize them, nor does it force you to follow a given organisation such as other explorers do. Mnemo Explorer tries to avoid any sort of organisation or structure. In order to establish simple patterns that associate an object (a file in our case) with a location, Mnemo Explorer provides you with a picture image into which files can be placed by dragging and dropping them onto the image. Before using the Mnemo Explorer, the user needs to define the meaning of a particular area on the image that helps him to establish an association with a certain document. By dragging a file onto this area, he associates the document/file with the metaphorical meaning of this area. Since every one of us has a different set of files assigned to different sets of contexts, the pattern of where the files are located on the image can not be read by anyone but the user who dropped the file on the image and can hence only be found by that same individual. This is the reason why there will never be a “Personal Edition of Mnemo Explorer”. So in essence, the idea behind Mnemo Explorer is that you can establish a pattern where you put certain types of files and when you access them, you intuitively look for them in a limited number of locations.
