Mic Decoder Description

Mic Decoder is a lightweight piece of software created to detect whether a microphone is connected to your computer, issuing a signal to the RS-232 serial port in case of a positive response, being mainly intended for automation purposes.Simple interface yet highly opaque usageThe utility is easy to install, however bear in mind that you need to run it using your administrator credentials for it to function properly. The main window informs you if it detects a microphone, while the ‘Port’ menu enables you to select the preferred one from the available options. Given the complete lack of user guide or help documentation, experience in the field is not only an advantage, but a necessity, otherwise you risk not being able to benefit in the slightest from this application. Detect and transmit signals from your microphone to the RS-232 portMic Decoder is able to transmit data in the shape of binary code (series of 0 and 1), whenever a microphone is identified. The ‘Desired Signal’ can be user-defined by inputting the string in the assigned field, and the application will begin looking for a pattern which it can then send to the RS-232 serial port. From a dedicated menu, you can select the preferred port number, but there are no start / stop buttons, as Mic Decoder will begin transmitting automatically the moment that it detects the device. The signal is sent along with a date and time stamp to the RS-232 port, while the device connected to it is supposed to capture it and react accordingly. Given the fact that Mic Decoder was created for automation purposes, the signal should trigger an action on the part of the device connected to this port. A microphone signal detection toolTo summarize, Mic Decoder is a simple program created to capture a binary code signal from a microphone connected to your computer, which it can then pass along to the RS-232 serial port, in the intention of being used to automate certain actions.
