Matrix Rain is a lightweight Vista gadget built specifically for helping users animate their screen activity by viewing the Matrix digital rain or Matrix code. This widget is able to simulate the falling green code featured in the Matrix series, and displays the code as downward-flowing green characters which leave a fluorescent trace. Matrix Rain was designed with an overall simplicity in mind, so it doesn’t offer support for any dedicated parameters, which could be good news only for rookies who don’t want to spend a lot of time customizing the layout of the gadget. It would have been useful to see support for speed and color adjustments or user-defined text messages embedded in the Matrix code, just to name a few suggestions. Additional options give users the possibility to select the size of the gadget (small or large), choose the opacity level, as well as make the tool remain on top of other utilities. Plus, you are allowed to move the widget to any area of the screen. During our testing we have noticed that Matrix Rain accomplishes a task very quickly and without errors throughout the entire process. As it would be expected from such a small utility, it remains light on the system resources, so it doesn’t hamper computer performance, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality. To sum things up, Matrix Rain seems to be the right-choice in case you are looking for a simple-to-use gadget that comes bundled with limited features for helping you view the Matrix digital rain.
