MacX DVD Ripper Pro Description

Size: 36.41 MB License: Shareware OS: Mac OS, Other Price: $39.95 Buy full version Publisher: Digiarty Software, Inc. Updated: 5 Dec 2014 Downloads: 277 (5 last week) Overview Ripping DVDs isn't as difficult as it used to be in the past. MacX DVD Ripper is an instance of a program that can be used to backup DVDs not only to your Mac, but to any modern video device like the iPhone, iPad, Android devices, HTC, Samsung and many others. Preset profiles exist for each of those devices that contain the best output configurations for them, however you can override them and select your own if you feel comfortable messing with more advanced settings. Protected DVDs can be ripped as well. Installation The installation procedure is like any typical Mac app installation: after downloading the .DMG file, double click on it and a new icon will appear labeled similarly to the downloaded file’s name. A Finder window will also appear, so just locate the application’s icon in this new window and drag and drop it into your “Applications” directory. Note: Windows users can install the MacX DVD Ripper for Windows; it’s the same as the Mac version but for Windows. Interface The user is presented with a modern and elegant interface that has its features organized and isn’t overloaded with options and buttons. At the top is the toolbar which has various buttons that will get you started on the DVD ripping operation: DVD Disc, ISO Image, Add Folder, Clear, Option and Check for new version. After selecting a DVD disc or ISO image you will see in the central area a list with the movie’s chapters along with information regarding duration, resolution, audio and subtitles. Next to the list is the preview screen, where the movie may be played. A few settings are available under the preview screen, and the Run button which initializes the process is located right below them. Pros There is a wide variety of supported output formats (MP4, QT, FLV, H.264, MOV, AVI, MP3, MPEG, etc.) but the main advantage of the program is that you get to pick the device you want to play the movie on, and not the output format itself. Find your device from the list, and all required settings are automatically configured for the best outcome. Some of the supported devices are iPhone 5/4S, iPad 2/3, iPod, Apple TV, Android devices, HTC, Samsung, Nokia, Galaxy Tab, Nexus 7, Zune, Xbox and PS3. Protected/Encrypted DVDs is not an issue for MacX DVD Ripper. It can easily bypass even the newest copy protection methods. Editing videos is possible too. You can trim, crop or merge videos, as well as embed external subtitles. If you want to keep original video/audio quality you may use the Copy function, which creates a 1:1 copy of the DVD and saves it as a single MPEG2 file for playback in your computer. Using the preview screen you can capture screenshots throughout the movie. In addition you can extract only the audio from a movie. Cons Works like a charm, no cons. Alternatives Some good alternative for Mac OS users are DVDFab HD Decrypter (free), MakeMKV (paid), RipIt (paid) and Mac DVDRipper Pro (paid). A major disadvantage all of those software have against MacX DVD Ripper is that they lack the ability to select an output device that contains optimum conversion settings. Conclusion This program has everything a Mac user needs to rip DVDs and play them either in his computer or another device. It’s also easy to use and doesn’t have any bugs or issues. Five stars is the only rating it should get.
