MPEG-4 AAC Decoder Description

MPEG-4 AAC Decoder is a command-line based audio decoder for formats such as AAC and MP4, with advanced options in what the output is concerned. The command-line approach allows advanced users to create automation scripts, but less experienced audiences can handle it just as well, as the program provides enough guidance. Installation is not necessary; the download package consists from a single EXE file that can be launched only from a CMD window. Simply drag and drop the executable inside the command line prompt, at which point the program displays a variety of options explained briefly. Aside from these guidelines, you will also be presented with a set of examples that come in handy especially for beginners. The program is able to show information about an input file, as well as to generate MPEG-4 AAC ADTS media with custom names. As far as the output is concerned, you may choose from two formats: WAV and RAW PCM. For the PCM data, you can select one of the available sample formats, from 16- bit to 64-bit floating point data and optionally force the sample rate to a custom input. The program features support for several profiles, amongst which LC (Low Complexity), LTP (Long Term Prediction) and LD (Low Delay), whichever suits you best. You can also disabled gapless decoding or opt for a stdio output instead of a file. In conclusion, MPEG-4 AAC Decoder comes across as a complex audio decoder that could use a more user-oriented approach or a GUI, for the sake of users who are less familiar with the command line approach.
