MP3 Collector Standard Description

MP3 Collector is a program that helps you catalog, tag and rename your personal audio file collection. It supports MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, APE (monkey audio), FLAC and WAV files. This organizer software runs on Windows 95, 98, NT4, ME, XP and 2000. Use MP3 Collector to: Catalog your audio files Auto-scan your harddisk and CDs, read info from tags or filenames Edit ID3/WMA/APE/OGG tags Edit file tags, one by one or automatically in batch Batch rename your files Rename files automatically using tag or database information Instantly sort your lists On any field, e.g. alphabetically by artist, title or bitrate Search your file database E.g. find a track by title or find all files with a low bitrate Catalog your audio files Adding your files to the database is easy, just use the Add to Database function and let the program scan your harddisk or a CD for MP3, OGG, WMA, APE or WAV files. It will automatically read the tags for information about the songs (artist, title, year, genre, etc..) or parse it from the filenames. The parser can be configured to match your filename formats. The catalog will store the location of the files (e.g. "harddisk1", or "CD-R 27") so you can always find your tracks quickly. Edit your tags The built-in tag editor supports ID3v1, ID3v2, WMA, APE and Vorbis tags. You can edit tags manually, one by one, or use the Batch Tag feature to tag files automatically in batch, using information from the catalog, the filename or from the other tags (e.g. to copy ID3v1 tags to ID3v2 tags). A preview screen lets you review tag changes before they are actually written to the file, so you are in complete control. Rename your files If you like your filenames to be consistent, e.g. in the format "01 Artist - Title.mp3", MP3 Collector can help you make it so. The Batch Renamer feature lets you define the file format you want, then it automatically renames your audio files to that format, using index, artist, title, album and genre information from the database or your tags. Again, a Preview screen lets you review proposed changes before the file are actually renamed. View and search the file database Once you have added a number of files to the inventory, you can view the database on the main screen. It is possible to show a simple list of all files, but you can also organize your library by artist, album or location, etc.. using the automatic folder feature. All lists can be sorted instantly, just by clicking the column headers or by using the Sort Order screen. You can sort on any field, e.g. alphabetically on artist or genre, or sorted on bitrate. Use the Quick Search feature to find all songs that contain the word you type, or use the Advanced Filter command to search in specific fields, even multiple fields at once. Print lists Lists of your files can be printed in any way you want. The Print feature lets you choose which files to print, which fields to show and in what order to list them. Export your catalog (Pro edition only) Using the Export to HTML feature you can generate HTML pages of your audio file inventory, for use on your homepage or website. If you want to be able to use your MP3 data in other programs, use the Export to XML or Export to Text functions.
