Windows already comes with a password-protection feature to prevent unauthorized access, but those searching for an enhanced security tool can always have a look at Lock O'Clock. This lightweight Windows freebie provides a different password protection system that comprises just a few easy to configure settings. Lock O'Clock installs as a brand new screensaver on your computer, so it has no dedicated interface, but instead it can be accessed via the screensaver properties screen in Windows. Setting a very basic analog clock as your new screensaver, Lock O'Clock also provides a pack of options to play with, letting you set up a new password and even launch it at Windows startup. You can also configure the interface of the clock and adjust light, surface color, shadow and background color, font type, size and style. Additionally, the application allows users to write down a message that can be displayed every time the password dialog pops out requiring users to input the password in order to receive access to the computer. The good thing is that Lock O'Clock is very effective and cannot be closed once the password dialog appears on the screen. Pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL doesn’t let you launch Task Manager to terminate the process and Lock O'Clock can even work together with the standard Windows password protection system. All things considered, Lock O'Clock is a very effective security tool, but since it’s being delivered as a screensaver, it still needs a more attractive GUI.
