Editor's review: This is a messenger program that lets co-workers communicate over a network. LanTalk LAN messenger is an instant LAN messenger that works in LAN, WAN or the Internet. This product is positioned at business networks. There is no need for a centralized chat server or a need to access the Internet. With this tool implemented, a large part of the email exchanges can be reduced. Instant messaging through this tool can let you transfer files and messages. LanTalk can easily replace the Winpopup solution from MS. The program runs in the background and sits on the system tray. Messages can be typed into an edit box. Messages sent can have read receipts enabled. The idling program will start up when a message is received; a hot key can activate the tool as well. Some features that can save a significant amount of time are the auto reply, ignore and fast reply, or sending predefined messages on a click. The dual window display of interaction with the tool is useful in letting the user keep looking at the new messages coming in, even when writing one. Scheduling of messages for transmission is also available. Finding messages that has been received already is possible through the find function. Drag and drop of items, image pasting lets creating fairly sophisticated messages possible. It is easy to set up and to configure too, if you are not happy with the defaults.
