JTag Description

Adding supplementary information to a music track in order to convey details regarding the author, album or genre can be done through the use of tag editors. When the songs are in MP3 format, you will have the possibility to choose from a wide variety of dedicated applications. Among those programs you can come across one that goes by the name of Jtag and is entirely build on Java. Given its programming language, this tool, as simple as the task it is supposed to carry out may be, will take up much more system resources than many other similar utilities. The interface is quite plain and bent on practicality, with all the features easily accessible from the main toolbar or the corresponding menus. The first thing you will have to do is pick the directory that holds the target files. Jtag scans the chosen folder and orders all the MP3 tracks found inside inside a table with several columns. The layout of this grid can be easily customized, so besides the default columns you will be able to add many more in order to be able to personalize the information concerning bitrate, copyright, frequency, play length or Mpeg version, to name just a few. There are many editing functions at your disposal, so you can insert or replace specific text string into or from any field that is available inside the table, copy the entire content of a certain column into another and much more. Playing the selected files is only possible if you define an MP3 player application inside the 'Preferences' menu of Jtag. All things considered, the feature pack brought by this utility is basic, but sufficient for those who are not too demanding when it comes to personalizing the information attached to their music tracks.
