JMount Description

JMount is a handy piece of software developed to create a virtual drive using a folder stored on your local drives. There’s no help section available, but it’s almost impossible to get lost in the main window because there are only a few options to quickly create a new virtual drive. Basically, JMount only asks you to pick a letter for the new drive and the folder that shall be used to browse its content faster. Additionally, there’s just one more tool to simply unmount a drive and remove a previously-created virtual disk. While it’s all so simple, there are some important features missing from the app, including a dedication option to enter volume name and thus better organize your drives. On the good side however, JMount doesn’t require a system reboot after you create a new virtual drive. As you can see, JMount is a very simple application and it works flawlessly on all Windows versions on the market. You don’t need to keep the program running and it’s enough to simply create a virtual drive and then forget about it until you wish to remove it. All things considered, JMount is clearly an interesting project, but further updates are obviously needed. It has the essential tools to quickly create and remove a virtual drive, but it lacks any configuration options, so experienced users are very likely to stay away from this app. Reviewed by Bogdan Popa, last updated on June 28th, 2012
