HWM BlackBox Description

HWM BlackBox is a program that you can use to find out useful information about your computer's hardware. This is a portable software, so installing HWM BlackBox is not required. That means you can place it on an external device (like a USB flash drive) and always have it with you while you're on the go. Also, it doesn't make any changes to your Windows registry entries. So, you can check out information about the processor, memory, graphics, system and benchmark. The first tab lets you view data about the model, code name, technology, package, family, revision and instructions of the processor, as well as core, thread, L1 code and data cache, L2 and L3 cache. But you can also read the speed, usage, temperature and thread of each core, as well as current speed, CPU usage, multiplier, bus speed, voltage and power. In addition, you can check out the total size, memory type, frequency, memory usage, modules and row active time for the physical memory, along with memory SPD information (e.g. size, bandwidth, memory type, module slot, manufacturer). Furthermore, you can find out details about the graphics card manufacturer, series, model, interface, memory, core, shader, and others, as well as data on the manufacturer, model, north and south bridge, BIOS version, and more, when it comes to the system. Moreover, you can run a benchmark on the system, processor, graphics, video encoding, 3D and games, as well as hard disk. As results, you can check out ratings. The program takes up a moderate amount of system resources while running a benchmark and didn't pop up any errors during our tests. Unfortunately, there is no available help file (which is a major inconvenience to novices) and some very important details are not displayed (e.g. fan speed, processor temperature). The latter option is definitely a big downside to advanced individuals. We suggest you test HWM BlackBox for yourself. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on February 17th, 2012
