GiliSoft USB Lock Description

Accessing your most valuable data can be done in many different ways. That is why GiliSoft USB Lock offers you individual locks for all possible entries to your data. The program can block your hard and USB drives, your disc drives, selected websites, connected devices, programs, etc. It requires a master password to use the program, guaranteeing that only you can access, edit, and remove your locks. Its colorful yet not terribly attractive interface is well designed in terms of how the different options are organized and presented. In a panel on your left hand side, you’ll find the main menu, with a Control Center (to lock USB ports, CD readers, websites, programs, and other devices and to create your personal “white list”), a Reports & Logs section (to record your USB activity and your deny/allow access history), and a General section where you can change your password and deal with other security issues. Each of these sections are all fairly easy to set up, using mainly checkboxes and clear spaces to select and block websites, programs, and the like. This is an excellent tool for those sharing their computer or laptops with others, preventing anyone from stealing your data just by copying them on a device connected to it via an USB port or by saving them to disc without your authorization. Thus, you can block all ports on your computer while it is not on your hands, or configure your CD/DVD/BD drives to be read-only to avoid disc recording, and even block specific devices that don’t belong to you, such as your colleagues’ smartphones. GiliSoft USB Lock is a clever tool to put an extra layer of security on top of your data. Its tag price is not for everyone, but it will always depend on the value that your privacy or to the information that you usually store on your computer.
