GiliSoft Private Disk Description

GiliSoft Private Disk is a disk encryption tool for Windows. It creates a virtual disk where you can store private information, be it photos, videos, documents, or any other type of files. The 'secure area' created by this tool is encrypted with AES 256-bit algorithm and protected with a password, making your data completely inaccessible to other users or even to software programs. This is especially helpful if your PC is shared with a number of other users or if your portable drive is lost or stolen. Using Gilisoft Private Disk is simple. It has a minimalist interface that walks you through every step of the process. You simply choose the size of your virtual drive, assign it an individual letter, and finally choose the password that will protect your disk. Once you have decided whether you want to save your partition on your hard drive or on a USB, you click the finish button to finalize the operation. The application will create the disk and give you access to the secure area. Whenever you want to access the data stored in the private disk, the program will prompt you to enter the password. It also gives you the option to make your private disks completely invisible to other users. The trial version of Private Disk only allows you to create a partition of roughly 2GB, but once you buy the full version, you are able to create as big of a private partition as you want. The most interesting feature is that disks created with this tool can be transferred to other computers without losing their privacy settings, so it is not necessary to install the program on every PC you use.
