GaianDB Description

GaianDB is a lightweight relational federation database engine based on Apache Derby 10.x. It federates heterogenous back-end data sources (RDBMS dbs, files, text indexes, ...) using a logical table abstraction layer.However, its principal feature is its ability to autonomically discover and federate other 'GaianDB federating nodes' such that a whole network of these can be formed. Queries are routed effectively around the network using loop detection and logical table schema mapping to automatically retrieve data from different federated data sources exposed on each node. Its connectivity model is 'biologically inspired' in that it strives to minimise network diameter and maximise connections to the fittest nodes.GaianDB is written in java so you'll be able to deploy it on any platform and device supporting Java.
