GX::Transcoder Description

When purchasing a new album, be it a CD or a DVD, many users like to enjoy their tracks on their computer as well, by ripping the discs and copying the tracks to a chosen location. When users also want to transfer their songs and videos to another portable device, then need to convert the files to other formats, and this can be achieved using GX::Transcoder. Clean feature lineupThe application comes with an intuitive interface that allows users to perform a wide range of tasks, including playing their files, renaming and tagging them, as well as converting them to other formats. Extract lyrics, edit ID3 tags and cut WAV filesWhen it comes to playing their files, users can choose to extract the lyrics off their songs or modify the ID3 tags by entering details regarding the artist’s name, the track number and the release year. When dealing with WAV files, one can even cut out a segment of their file by simply specifying the start and end points. File renaming rulesThose who want to change the filename of their multimedia items can easily set up a pattern, select the files then preview the result – this function is extremely handy when users want to try out several renaming schemes before settling on one of them. Add tags, cover images and lyrics The Tagger component of GX::Transcoder is of great use for adding details to the tracks that do not have any details regarding their artist, track number, genre or title. Furthermore, this utility allows users to add cover pictures and full lyrics to their multimedia items. Audio and video conversion tasksIn order to convert video files, GX::Transcoder relies on FFmpeg, so users need to install it first, then point the app to its location. The software solution supports converting files both to audio formats (including AAC, ALS, APE, FLAC, M4A, MP2, MP3, MPC, OFR, OGG, SHN, TTA, WAV, WMA and WV) and to video ones (such as AVI, MP4, WMV, 3GP, VCD, MOV or FLV). Bottom lineDespite its numerous features, it seems that GX::Transcoder did not receive an update in several years, so those who need an application that works flawlessly within the newest Windows editions might need to look elsewhere.
