File Seeker Description

File Seeker is a peer-to-peer based application that relies on the Gnutella protocol, but uses its own network to accomplish file sharing, one of its primary purposes. File Seeker is part of a software category that doesn’t fall short of fans, namely Gnutella clients. The protocol, adopted and used by millions of users, stands out through its decentralized algorithm, which offers a great deal of anonymity to all participants. As a consequence, developers turned their attention to using this protocol in order to provide transparent file sharing. One of the early projects of this type is File Seeker, an application which in its glory days, made it quite to the top of the P2P client list. Overtime, the lack of constant updates and improvements drew it back, clearing the way for more advanced applications. However, File Seeker’s feature pack was appreciated at the time because it brought simplicity, fast connections and a streamlined approach to file transfer. Today, the nodes are outdated, the servers no longer work and the chat feature is deprecated because it connects to an address that no longer exists. You can attempt a connection by changing the node addresses (although we haven’t managed to accomplish that) and you can use the built-in browser to navigate to any site. In other words, the application is far from being functional and very little features can be adjusted to actually work. In the light of the above, our recommendation is to redirect your attention to other applications from this software category; judging by the degree of functionality, File Seeker is a relic, which relies on a network that no longer exists.
