File Rescue Description

File Rescue is optimized for use with FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 file systems. It is designed to recover deleted files of all types and uses advanced scanning techniques to retain the original names and directory structure wherever possible. It is the ideal software tool to undelete files and photos from memory devices formatted with the FAT file systems. Typical devices are USB memory sticks, flash drives, hard drives and floppy disks used as external memory for personal computers and laptops. Other devices include SD, SDHC, miniSD and microSD cards used in electronic equipment such as digital cameras, mobile phones and smart phones.Easy to use interface guides you through the mount/scan process and displays deleted files in a Windows Explorer style file browser. Full scan detects deleted, overwritten and existing files in one operation, these are viewed separately, the file browser has a filter option that allows the user to switch between view modes. Full scan analysis details are displayed alongside files in the browser and report is saved in csv format compatible with all spreadsheet applications. Preview photo images before recovery. The following graphic file formats can be previewed BMP, GIF, ICO, JPG and TIF. The program is completely portable, no installation required, simply download and run from any location on your system including external hard drive or USB flash drive. Map of scanned volume is saved to allow for quick remount. Files selected for recovery via check boxes are also saved so work can be completed over multiple sessions. Image feature allows a volume located on any drive to be imaged to disk so the volume can then be mounted from the image file. Supports Unicode so file names are displayed in their original language character set. The report indicates the recovery potential for each deleted file in the %Available column. Forensic meta data is included alongside all files listed in the browser window. MD5 and SHA-1 hash values are optional and can be configured within the Report Settings menu. Advanced scanning techniques help to retain original file names and directory structure and minimize the need for file carving. When file carving is necessary the following file formats are supported: Bitmap (BMP), Portable Executable (EXE, DLL), Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPE, JFIF, JPEG, JPG), Portable Document Format (PDF), Resource Interchange File Format (AVI, WAV).
