Femme Description

The Femme VST plugin was developed to a simple frequency modulated oscillator. It has two selectable ranges for frequency, one for audible frequencies and one for LFOs. Each range has its own modulation width control. In MIDI mode, the center frequency is set by triggered MIDI notes, using the AFO width for modulation. The fun begins when you set up a number of Femme contraptions to be modulated by one another or by other contraptions. Besides the dull, boring waveforms commonly found on obsolete analog synthesizers, Femme offers twelve new and different waveforms not to be found on any other synthesizer. The squelch feature damps the output when the input amplitude is low. The fast squelch cuts off quickly but may audibly ripple at low input frequencies. The slow squelch may take longer to cut off but will sustain more smoothly. Waveform transition speed controls how long it takes to morph from one waveform selection to another. It will always complete one morph to a selected waveform before starting another, regardless of what waveform selections are made during the morph; at the end of a morph, if it didn't end up at the current waveform selection, it starts another morph. Thus, if you move the slider from Spleen to Pint over a half-second period of time, and transition speed is two seconds, it will start a morph to Trout, taking two seconds to finish, because you pass Trout on the way to Pint. At the end of the transition to Trout, it will then start another transition from Trout to Pint assuming that you left the selector at Pint.
