Editor's review: The Family Database 2008 stores a familys information and lets one save, birthdays, names, e-mail addresses. All this information then can be sorted, searched, printed and more! The package includes both full install and uninstall features and a help file. Pros: The Family Database 2008 stores your familys information and lets you save Birthdays, Names, e-mail addresses. It also allows you to sort, search, print the records. The package Includes both full install and uninstall features and a help file too. Cons: The calendar view is just a view of the calendar of the current twelve months. I had half expected to find the birthdays highlighted on the calendar and linked back to the full record. Either the demo version has a restriction or the feature does not exist. Besides there are no reminder/alert facility about any upcoming birthdays! No particular feature actually makes the package family specific. The details captured can be for any set of contacts, even totally unrelated people. Only important date that can be recorded is the birthday, I would think several anniversary dates would be important particularly with respect to family members! The DataGrid view is a flat table view of all the records while the Form view is the data for one record displayed as per the data entry form. One would expect an edit facility here. I should be able to change values in each field by usual text editing means. It does not work that way though. A further problem is the first field, the record no, would work best if it is assigned automatically. Overall: The package is more or less a data entry package for a single table with delete and save to disk features included. This really does not provide any additional value that cannot be delivered by a standard package like the Outlook that most people would use most often. Overall rating 2 stars.
