Exacto is a lightweight software application whose purpose is to help users take screenshots and perform several editing operations. It boasts a clean and intuitive layout that allows you configure the dedicated parameters with minimum effort. The tool gives you the possibility to manually select the desired area that you want to capture. On the downside, it doesn’t offer support for built-in modes for helping you take screenshots in a full screen mode or grab an active window. Exacto lets you export the images to BMP, GIF, ICO, JPG, or TIF file format, copy the selected picture to the clipboard, crop photos, as well as send the screenshot via email. What’s more, you can use a pen for drawing free-hand designs, choose from different colors, insert arrows followed by text notes, and customize the text in terms of font, font style, size, color, and alignment. Last but not least, you are allowed to highlight important areas and embed lines, arrows, squares, and circles. During our testing we have noticed that Exacto carries out a task quickly, provides very good image quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. However, it eats up CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer may be burdened. To sum things up, Exacto seems to be the right choice in case you are looking for a simple-to-use tool that helps you take screenshots and edit them using basic functions. It may prove an essential tool for all users who need to capture important parts or ideas from their projects and annotate them on the breeze.
