Ethos Cataloger Description

Ethos Cataloger is a small-sized software utility whose main purpose is to scan your computer or removable devices in order to find audio files and create music albums. Basic and easy-to-use interfaceThe interface of the application sports a minimalistic look that is not particularly appealing and consists of several shortcut buttons. Its only advantage is that it can be minimized to the taskbar and it does not occupy a lot of desktop space, so you can work with other programs at the same time. Scan your hard drive for music filesEthos Cataloger scans your hard drive's folders and subfolders to look for audio files, but if you do not want to go through with this operation, you have the option of importing files from playlists. The application performs a thorough scan and gives you the possibility to change search settings. Thus, from the Media Detection menu, you can create albums from folder contents or track tags. You can choose to scan CUE sheets as albums and look for pictures within the same folder or subfolder where the audio tracks were found. Also, if the filename follows specific patterns, it can be detected as the album's front, cover or cover art picture. Detect audio files with multiple taggingsIf a song has more than one tag, the application finds it based on the tag's priority. For a file that has a single tag, the tool reads all the track information, but when a tag field is missing, Ethos Cataloger looks for a value in the other taggings. Other settings enable you to find tracks based on the album's name, artist or composer. Handy music catalogerTo summarize, Ethos Cataloger is a simple software tool that helps you organize all your audio files into a collection. Unfortunately, it does not include a help manual, so all users are left with the single option of figuring out for themselves how to use the application.
