eBook Reader is an ebook reader that uses the interface of one of the most popular Internet browsers, Opera. It aims to help you access an online book collection and read the books without installing additional applications. Although you can find thousands of ebooks on the Internet, in order to read them you need a specialized application that can open formats such as EPUB or MOBI. If you do not want to install additional programs on your computer, eBook Reader provides you with a lightweight alternative. The widget can be installed on Opera and allows you to open EPUB files stored on the local hard drive. It also provides access to an online library but we did not manage to download any of the available titles. Once you add a book to the library, you can browse its content and access the table of content in order to jump to a certain chapter. Unlike most ebook readers, it cannot create bookmarks in order to easily resume the reading from where you left off. The main window can be easily zoomed in order to clearly view the text from a bigger distance. You can display the book on top of the other windows when you need to focus on reading without being disturbed. In our test, eBook Reader only allowed us to add a single book to the library which can be a problem when you want to open multiple items. Before downloading this widget you should know that Opera developers have discontinued the widget support for version 12 and higher which means that you can only use this widget with older versions of the browser. Although it lacks useful features such as the bookmark support, printing or the ability to organize ebooks, eBook Reader can still be used successfully to open EPUB files with older versions of Opera.
