Doom WAD Reader / Extractor Description

Doom WAD Reader / Extractor is a small and portable utility which lets you view and extract the contents of a WAD file, supported by the classical first-person video game, "Doom". Since installation is not necessary, you can store Doom WAD Reader / Extractor on a USB flash drive or similar external device and directly run its executable file. Just make sure the DLL file is placed in the same containing folder. Therefore, the Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal. Plus, you can carry Doom WAD Reader / Extractor in your pocket whenever you're on the move. The interface of the app is based on a plain and intuitive window where you can load a WAD file by using only the file browser, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. Unfortunately, the tool cannot retrieve content from multiple files simultaneously. So, you can check out the resources of the respective WAD file, represented by a header, a directory and data lumps; you can extract images, sounds and maps from the video game, for instance. All you have to do is specify the output directory, in order to save the selected data to a separate location. Doom WAD Reader / Extractor needs a moderate amount of CPU and system memory, and has a good response time. Everything worked smoothly during our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.
