Desktop Patrol Description
Restricting access to certain operating system features does not only offer increased security, but can also make you better focus on the task at hand. There are various applications that can monitor and limit access, Desktop Patrol being one of them. It puts a simple interface at your disposal with which to quickly prevent users from accessing selected features.Select items to be limited from a list Right from the start, you are required to provide a password to gain access to all the application's features. You are encouraged to immediately set your own security key once the main window is brought up, to ensure maximum protection. The list of restrictions is slightly limited and robust. Two sections are put at your disposal, one containing exceptions that need to be moved to the other section in order to take effect. Unfortunately, adding custom applications to the restriction list is slightly difficult. Doing so requires you to write down the correct title bar text and add it to the list. Test this out before applying it, because you might end up with no restriction for the desired item. Customize each user's access to featuresTo successfully apply restrictions you need to select a user. Each can only be limited to using certain applications. Moreover, an integrated function automatically sends you notifications via email when an attempt was made. Additionally, you can get a glimpse of frequently accessed web pages in order to know whether or not an Internet restriction should be applied. In conclusionTaking everything into consideration, we can say that Desktop Patrol attempts to keep users from accessing custom features. However, it's slightly difficult to use overall and some strong testing needs to be done before putting it in practice. It function properly, but the design and limited features keep it from being too practical. Reviewed by Mircea Dragomir, last updated on June 4th, 2014
