ComScript Description

ComScript was developed to provide a powerful, yet easy to understand, data collection and device communication tool for PCs. It uses a straight forward programming language and desktop application that simplifies the automated control of instruments, relay boards, and various devices connected by a cable or the internet. Don't be intimidated by the "programming" part, because a ComScript purchase include lots of examples and free tech support. ComScript is also very light on processor resources and memory, which results in stable applications that run for months without interruption - a great choice for lab and plant monitoring systems and to automate laboratory experiments. The ComScript xml language is very easy to understand and write, but it still provides the power and flexibility of a more complex programming language and much more than text-box type communication software. To make the coding even easier, ComScript provides a Profile Editor/Script Builder where users can selected from a wide variety of commands that are automatically written into the xml code. The editor puts all the commands at your finger tips and avoids frustrating syntax and formatting pitfalls. Data from connected devices can be easily collected into variables and written to a file with time stamps and comments. ComScript includes conditional and mathematical expressions, email functions, file transfer commands and a host of other commands to support the collection, processing, and dissemination of data. Applications, called profiles, can also call external executable programs (e.g. data plotting programs, statistics software, operating system functions, etc.) to interface with existing software or systems. Live data can be viewed and edited in the Data Interface (DI) while the application is running so that you can change program settings (alarm thresholds, motor speeds, intervals) without stopping the application. The DI is very useful for automated lab experiments and monitoring applications. The built in terminal emulator provides a great way to test communications with devices connected via a serial port (RS232) or the internet (TCP-IP). Green Eyes is very committed to supporting users. In addition to the Profile Editor, ComScript provides a built in command reference, detailed profile examples, and a searchable online manual.
