ClickSoft: Folder Locker is a very simple Windows application whose goal is to lock folders, thus preventing unauthorized users from viewing your personal information. The tool does not come equipped with outstanding options or configuration parameters, so it can be used by anyone, even those minimally experienced in computer software. The setup procedure takes little time to finish, and no special input is required during this stage. As far as the interface is concerned, a very small window shows two buttons for locking and unlocking folders, along with the full path of the selected directory. All you have to do is point out a folder using the tree view only, as the drag-and-drop method is not supported. It gets immediately locked, and you have to use ClickSoft: Folder Locker again if you want to unlock it. Double-clicking a locked directory does not trigger any action. However, ClickSoft: Folder Locker is missing a key feature, namely password protection. In other words, any user who is aware of the app's presence on the machine can seamlessly unlock directories, since there are no restrictions imposed. CPU and RAM usage is low, so the computer performance is not affected in any way. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, as the app did not hang, crash or display error dialogs. It has an attractive interface. However, essential features are missing from ClickSoft: Folder Locker. Users should resort to more powerful applications for locking directories, such as the ones with password protection.
