Application Tip Editor Description
The Application Tip Editor application was developed to be a small utiliy that will enables you to create application tips for use with the accompanying ApplicationTips library. This utility allows for some basic text formatting within the tool itself, but you can copy and paste from any Rich Text editor such as WordPad. You can (and should) click the Calendar button on the toolbar just before you deploy your application tip xml file with your application. This will ensure all the displayed dates are null and that the tips will display in the intended order. Use the Edit Order tab to modify the order the tips will be displayed to the end user. This tool is essential for building application tip files, but the best way to create the language you will use in your tips is with WordPad. This way you will have the benefit of more advanced formatting and spell check. Just open WordPad and create each tip then copy and paste directly into this applicaiton. All formatting will be preserved including fonts. You could use Microsoft Word to create the tips you will use and then copy and paste into this editor but Microsoft Word adds a great deal of RTF formatting that is not necessary and will make your tip files larger than they need to be. For this reason, it is best to use Microsoft WordPad (including will all versions of Windows). In the Edit Order view, you'll notice the RTF codes are displayed along with each tip. If you hover your mouse over a tip, you'll see a tooltip with the complete tip including all RTF codes. This will make it possible to see what the actual verbiage of the tip is for more informed tip ordering.
