AVS Audio Converter Description

The wide variety of portable devices that we use today to listen to our favorite music and other audio files makes the need for a versatile yet simple audio conversion tool a must for all aficionados. AVS Audio Converter is such a tool, and it adds to its conversion capabilities useful features to rip audio CDs and to edit, name, and tag audio files, as well as specific support for certain types of audio books. This comprehensive tool comes in a modern, ribbon-based interface that requires a very short learning curve (if any). The Convert tab is where you create your conversion list – here you can mix all kinds of audio files regardless of their original format (as long as they’re included in the program’s extensive list of supported codecs) and location. Thus, you can convert in one single operation files already stored on your system’s drives, tracks grabbed from a CD, and even the audio stream of a wide variety of video files (the program performs the audio extraction automatically when you add a video file to the conversion list). Before launching the conversion process, you can choose your preferred output quality from a short list of clear and concise presets or select specific values for the sample and bit rates, the channels, or the sample size, plus a number of other advanced options. Note the output format you select will be applied to all items on the list – the option to select different output formats for each item or multiple outputs for a single item is not supported. The Name/Tag Editor tab is where you add tags to your digital audio files, including an image of the cover and other ID3v2 tags. Here you will also find some basic renaming rules to help you organize your audio collection with uniform names in no time. The Editor tab comes with a useful waveform graph where you can perform basic edits in a clear and straightforward way (cut, trim, add markers, fade in and out, normalize, etc.). It may not be the most comprehensive audio editor out there, but it’s an excellent way to perform some minor changes without leaving the program. Finally, you’ll find an Audio Book tab, devoted to audio books in the MP3 and M4B (Apple) formats. Here you can add a cover to the book and a small set of metadata. You can also listen to your book here and split it either by a fixed number of chapters or by a specific duration. AVS Audio Converter comes with all you need to export your audio files from a wide variety of sources and formats into codecs that your desktop or portable devices can play. It is suitable for all kinds of users and covers all the most widely used codecs, both in the input and the output side of the process. Francisco Martínez Editor rating:
