AVIInfo Description

The AVIInfo application was designed to be a small command line tool that will adjust a set of chapters in a .bsi (BSPlayer INI) file such that they are rounded to the nearest keyframe in the video file. This can guarantee decently quick chapter seeks when playing a file. AVIInfo also has a few other (mostly diagnostic) options, listed below: AVIInfo -d File.avi The -d option prints out a diagnostic like whenever AVIInfo reads a section of an AVI file. It might be useful when trying to decipher a broken AVI, but it was included mostly for debugging AVIInfo itself (the source is included in the ZIP file). AVIInfo -i File.avi The -i option prints out a basic list of information about an AVI file, such as the resolution, framerate, FOURCC, and some other miscellaneous information. AVIInfo -k File.avi The -k option simply prints out a list of keyframes in the specified AVI file. I've found this useful on several occasions, so here it is. AVIInfo -o File.avi The -o option prints out a list of the offsets within the specified AVI file related to the common segments of an AVI (headers, stream lists, movie index lists, and so on), as well as their length in bytes. AVIInfo -v The -v options displays the version number of AVIInfo. Running AVIInfo with no arguments will also display the version, along with quick usage information. AVIInfo -w File.avi The -w option will print a one-line warning containing the name of the AVI file and the last frame number if the last frame in the AVI file is a keyframe. Old versions of the DivX compressor have trouble with files like this, so I used it as a simple heads-up mechanism to avoid trouble. Typically it would be called with a wildcard, like "AVIInfo -w *.avi"
