1 Click & Lock Description

If you’re not satisfied with the standard Windows desktop lock engine and you’re looking for an app with many more features packed in a well-organized GUI, 1 Click & Lock is the tool to try. Especially designed to help you protect the computer with a password, 1 Click & Lock relies on an intuitive design, with multiple panels not only to provide access to the most important settings, but also to show you messages and events. 1 Click & Lock needs to be running to enable the password-protection system, placing an icon in the Windows System Tray and allowing you to lock the desktop with the help of a dedicated user-defined keyboard shortcut. You have the option to use either a watch or a lock screen while protection is turned on, while a separate message system allows users who require access to the computer to send a message to administrators. There are several security rules at your disposal, so you can even disable Safe Mode, lock the computer after booting, log a time of incorrect rebooting or allow a blank password. What’s more, in order to make 1 Click & Lock as effective as possible, the app lets you disable specific Windows utilities, such as Task Manager and registry tools. That’s indeed a very good feature because 1 Click & Lock thus prevents users from shutting down its main process and disable protection. It works like a charm on all Windows workstations, without requiring administrator privileges on Windows 7. Overall, 1 Click & Lock is indeed a handy product that comes not only with a very clean and well-organized interface, but also with a fairly effective password-protection system. A help manual is also included in the package, just to make sure rookies figure out how to use the program. Reviewed by Bogdan Popa, last updated on May 14th, 2012
