Social Network Visualiser Description

Draw, visualize and layout social networks Social Network Visualiser - (SNV) is a GPL program designed to allow people draw, visualise and layout social networks. SNV can read and write various network file formats, such as PAJEK, sociomatrix and dot. It enables the user to visually modify an existing network or draw a new network using the mouse. Network and actor properties, such as distances, centralities, diameter etc, can be easily computed. Social Network Visualiser is also able to create random networks given a link probability. Here are some key features of "Social Network Visualiser": · Read a network from a given file and display it on your screen. · Draw a network easily by adding actors and edges with your mouse. · Manipulate network actors and their relations (links) with your mouse. · Find rudimentary network statistics (links, density, etc) · Calculate network and actor properties, i.e. centralities, components, etc · WYSIWYG when saving your work, that is, snv saves actor positions. · Create random networks and lattices. · Export network images to BMP or PNG formats. · Import various network formats, such as pajek, dl, list, etc. Requirements: · an installation of Trolltech's Qt3 C++ framework What's New in This Release: · Erdos-Renyi random network creation. · Removing symmetric edges, now asks what direction to remove. · New layout method: node sizes according to their indegrees. · No node limit. Load any network you want (make a coffee while waiting :)). · loadPajek() recognizes Arcslists and Matrix edges formats. · Edges are being drawed once (faster loading and node movement). · Graph API simplification and "standardization" · New LCD widget displaying network density and some improvements to the dock. · In-file declared node colors and shapes are used as they should. · Fixed bugs in removeNode methods. · Lots of bugfixes in loadPajek() method. · Documentation update · Progress Bars (F10) appear when creating random nets > 300 nodes. · RPM repository for openSUSE at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/oxy86/openSUSE_11.0 · SocNetV has a new, modern logo. It still resembles a snail though.
