SmileLab Description

Scriptable IDE for data manipulation. Fully scriptable IDE for data manipulation, interactive visualization of data, control of codes and automation. Boosts development of computational codes. Produces ready-to-publish figures.SmileLab is a data visualization and automation software.Reasons to use SmileLab include:the professional quality of its outputs, its GUI editor, its graphical library (for finalization of your graphs).SmileLab uses AppleScript as its only language.Itself is extensively scriptable, making it a full IDE for:data manipulation, automation, interactive data analysis and visualization (you attach scripts to user's actions),control of external software - including BSD codes.SmileLab will be of particular interest if you produce computational codes.Examples show how to add a scriptability layer beside your computational code, yielding:real-time visualization, easier, visual debugging, faster development, simultaneous control of several codes. Here are some key features of "SmileLab": · Extract data from files (default data formats supported: text, binary, FITS, XNF, ...). · Perform data processing using commands provided with Smile or controlling external code (more info). · Visualize your data in the most usual forms (curves, scatter plots, bar graphs, contour lines, color maps and vector fields in 2D, and 3D surfaces). · Customize the interaction of the user with the plots (handling mouse clicks, contextual menus, keyboard events...) and create custom interfaces. · Export your plot as a PDF file, as a bitmap picture (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PSD) or as a QuickTime movie. Here are the technologies available in Smile, full edition: · The 1-d, 2-d, and 3-d data visualization environment ("SmileLab Suite"). · The scientific environment. · The AppleScript Terminal. · The scripts and applets editor. · The editor of scripted interfaces. · The regular expressions on ASCII and on Unicode. · The XML engine. · The p-list engine. · The 2-d graphic engine. · The Unicode text editor. · The styled text editor. · The industrial interfaces (RS232, Digital I/O, LED display). Limitations: · Data visualization (available only in Smile full edition) and Smile over IP features for handling remote communications are disabled. What's New in This Release: · Some versions of the installer of Smile 3.4.1 regular edition didn't work correctly: a message say that that an instance of Smile is already running and the installation can't be processed. This is fixed. · The XMLSetEncoding command didn't change the meta tags of the html/xhtml documents. This is fixed. · XMLLib.osax now uses libxml-2.7.3
