QThai Description

Allows you to type Thai. QThai lets you type Thai with keys that correspond to the sounds of the letters, much in the same way that Apple does with its layouts such as “Tibetan – QWERTY”, “Turkish – QWERTY”, and others. Apple didn't provide a QWERTY Thai layout, so I made one myself. The QThai keyboard layout is completely free of charge. Here are some key features of "QThai": · Thai's many ways of writing the same consonant sound are accessed with the Shift and Option keys. Pressing K, for instance, yields ? (ko kai). Pressing Shift+K yields ? (kho khai). Pressing Option+K and Option+Shift+K yield the next two K sounds in the Thai alphabet– but there are a total of 6, and that's only 4! The last two K letters in the Thai alphabet are accessed by first pressing the backtick ` key (the key above tab and below escape, which also has ~ on it). To get ? and ?, press backtick and then K (for the first) and backtick then by Shift+K (for the second). The same applies for the R key, which also has six forms. · The long vowels are accessed by pressing Shift and the vowel. ?, for instance, is accessed with Shift+A. The “stacking” vowels automatically stack above or below the consonant– ?? is produced by typing N then I. · Thai's start- and end-of-document symbols are on the keys. · The thanthakat (vowel silencer) can be typed with both Q and Z, whichever you prefer. Low, high, rising, and falling tone marks can be typed with Shift+1, Shift+2, Shift+3, and Shift+4, respectively. ?? is typed with B then Shift+2, as an example.
