Firefox add-on that adds a new open-source search engine. PQ is a search engine for the web. However, it has substantial differences: is is distributed, collaborative and open-source.It is distributed. The search engine load is distributed among the members of the community. Crawling, indexing and searching is carried out collaboratively among all members of the community thanks to the PQ Node Addon. The firefox addon (also known as PQBar) sends your browsing (only the urls) to your PQNode (a process running in our servers, although it can run locally in your computer in the very near future).Collaboration is great, but it has a cost that some – a majority – is not willing to assume. PQ works without relying on explicitly feedback of the user. No votes, no annotation, no tags. You only need to keep your normal browsing activity and PQ will figure it out what pages are relevant. The goal is to leverage collaboration without having to do extra work.The PQ Node Addon is a tester for a distributed collaborative social search engine.Note: The PQ Node Addon is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
