Open Expander Description

Replace predefined tags in a text with specified text Open Expander monitors all text entered by the user (system-wide) and replaces predefined tags with specified text. For example %myemail% can be automatically replaced with the user's email address, if he wants.Open Expander is a productivity tool that saves you keystrokes with customized abbreviations (Tags) for frequently entered text. The tags are replaced in any application running on OS X including browsers, IDEs and email text editors. Define abbreviations for frequent typos, commonly used data entry fields such as email, username or address. Use smart replacements such as current date or time. Speed-up programming by creating short cuts that generate skeleton code loops and other constructs. Here are some key features of "Open Expander": · Replace tags in any application · BulletDefine tags through easy to use interface. · BulletDefine Smart tags such as which are replaced by current date or time · BulletType Special characters without having to open Special Characters menu. · BulletSelect the delimiters used with each tag and whether to keep or remove the delimiter for each tag. · BulletUse apple script or shell scripts to generate replacement text dynamically. · BulletUse regular expressions to make “Wild Card” tags. · BulletUse tags which span multiple words and lines. · BulletLicensed under GPL, improve, add features and report bugs. What's New in This Release: · We have completed first proof of concept and the program will now look for the word "hello" and replace it with the work "bye" in any program. We are currently working on functionality to read replacement tags from a file (probably in XML format). Also we are working on functionality to have tags that specify their own delimiters, case sensitivity and other features.
