Free and open source elevator simulation Elevator Simulator is a free and open source experiment in paired-programming that tries to simulate elevator behavior. Elevators are one of the major energy consumers in a building. Factors influencing energy consumption include trip time and number of floors. Additionally, the capacity of a building in terms of the number of people who will ride the elevators in a given period of time is an important part of the overall building design. Elevator Simulator allows a number of factors to be controlled including number of floors, number of riders, number of elevators, and the time over which riders will request an elevator. By making the simulator open source, additional factors can be added or unique simulations made within the framework.
