Domain Lookup checks availability at your preferred domain registrar. The Domain Lookup addon is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. Requirements: · Firefox 1.5 or later What's New in This Release: · The new version of Domain Lookup adds two powerful new tools to search for domains. We want to discuss the stuff you should know about your privacy. Please read it's not the usual yadda yadda yadda. · We want to make sure you understand how they work, since they alter how your browser handles some domain searches. · You can, of course, also choose to disable these features (though we hope you'll try them out before making a decision!). · Server Not Found' Search Firefox's default 'server not found' page is next to useless. The new Domain Lookup offers an enhanced 'server not found' page with access to four webmaster tools: · Register domain · WHOIS lookup · Make an offer on this domain via Sedo · Discover who hosts the domain via Who Is Hosting This · The error page automatically checks availability of the domain. If it's available, we'll show you a handy link to register it at your favorite registrar. · This feature is switched on by default. We hope you love it as much as we do. But if not, it can be disabled with one-click. · Just look for the tickbox at the bottom the first time the 'server-not-found' page loads (or head to Tools > Domain Lookup Addons). · It can also be disabled by right-clicking the 'DL' logo in your browser's status bar. · Search Box · Our most 'asked for' feature. The new version of Domain Lookup adds domain lookup to your Firefox search box (top right in the browser). · The 'search box' feature routes domain lookups via our servers. This is currently the only way to integrate 60+ registrars with Firefox's search box. We hope it goes without saying that we will never, ever log your domain searches. You'll notice that search box lookups are handled via: · Secure HTTPS connection · Dedicated anonymous subdomain · The secure HTTPS connection is encrypted using SSL the same protocol used by banks and retailers to keep online payments payments. · This subdomain (anonymous.domainlookup.org) has URL logging disabled by Apache server, meaning URLs called which include the domain searches are not logged on our servers. · Please see our privacy promise (http://domainlookup.org/privacy/) for full details. · Contextual Search · Domain Lookup still offers the regular 'contextual' domain searches, as previous versions. · Simply select the text you want as a domain and hit the shortcut key (CTRL + SHIFT + D by default). Alternatively, right-click for the contextual menu and click 'Domain Lookup for XXXX.com'. Domain Lookup will clean-up the text and strip illegal characters and check if the domain is available at your favorite domain registrar. · Contextual searches can now also be triggered by clicking the Domain Lookup logo in your browser's status bar (bottom right of your Firefox window).
