Free and open source Java application that will help you compute with units Computing with units is a Java program for computations with values expressed in terms of physical or other units. Computing with units supports complicated mathematical expressions and user-defined functions. Computing with units has an extensive units data base.Using this program you can find out, for example, that 6 ft 4 in is about 1.93 m, that temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit is about 24 degrees Celsius, that 8 liters per 100 km is about the same as 29 miles per gallon or that electric current of 5 mA corresponds to the flow of about 3.12e16 electrons per second. Requirements: · Java 1.4.2 or later What's New in This Release: · The multiplication operator '*' has now THE SAME · PRIORITY as the division operators '/' and 'per'. · (It had previously a higher priority.) · The space as a multiplication operator has still · a higher priority than '/', 'per', and now '*'. · See Section 4 of the user's manual. · The option to use the old convention, offered by · the C version, has not been implemented in the · Java version. · Release 1.87.J01 requires Java 1.5.0 or later. · It DOES NOT WORK with Java 1.4. Other changes are two new features: · The user can now have a personal units file in the · home directory, concatenated before the standard · units file. · A new command, 'search', lists the units that have · a given text as part of the name.
