CiteInPages Description

A suite of four Applescripts that allow BibDesk to be used as an integrated reference manager with Pages. CiteInPages is a suite of four Applescripts that allow the open source reference manager BibDesk to be used as an integrated reference manager with Apple's word processor, Pages (v. 3, from iWork '08). Using BibDesk templates, "working citations" containing BibTeX cite keys in a defined format can be dragged or inserted by script from BibDesk into Pages documents as the documents are edited. CiteInPages replaces these working citations with numbered or author-date in-text citations, creates a correctly-ordered bibliography based on a BibDesk template, and pastes the bibliography into the Pages document. CiteInPages has advantages over commercial reference managers for use with Pages because it works on native Pages files through Pages itself and it does not require converting the file to RTF, which may cause some loss of information, inserted images or l Requirements: · BibDesk 1.3.14 or later · Pages 3 or later What's New in This Release: · Julian Catchen identified one problem with Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6), the necessity to "activate" the Finder before attempting to retrieve file paths, and contributed a simple fix. · A workaround was also added to make the scripts better behaved in situations where a template may not add a return to the end of an entry in a bibliography list, causing concatenation of that entry with the subsequent one. · This yielded fewer bibliography list items than expected and previously caused a paragraph number index error. That is handled now with the option to continue without the error and separate the items manually after the script finishes.
