CFITSIO Description

A library of ANSI C routines for reading and writing FITS format data files CFITSIO is a free and open source library of C and Fortran subroutines for reading and writing data files in FITS (Flexible Image Transport System) data format. CFITSIO provides simple high-level routines for reading and writing FITS files that insulate the programmer from the internal complexities of the FITS format. CFITSIO also provides many advanced features for manipulating and filtering the information in FITS files. A set of Fortran-callable wrapper routines are also included for the convenience of Fortran programmers.CFITSIO will probably run on most other Unix platforms withoutmodification. Cray supercomputers and IBM mainframe computers arecurrently not supported. What's New in This Release: · multithreaded programs now run correctly on Mac OS (they used to give a bus error), · increased the length of a character string in fpack.c that caused the "fpack -V" command to crash on some platforms · fixed an invalid comment delimiter ( //* ) in imcompress.c that some compilers complained about.
